We are having a special event on one of our regular open knit nights, October 28th!!! Julie Turjoman will be here in the shop to sign her new book, Brave New Knits which won't be released until sometime next month. I just had to get this out so you can mark your calenders and I will keep you posted!! Julie is so nice and down to earth and of course talented you are just going to love her!

We got to see the rough draft and Sandy has already knit from the book and that pattern was fantastic!! I CAN'T wait!!!

Socks with sandals day!!

Today was our first 'Socks with Sandals' day at the shop! It was a lot of fun and we even had a very special visitor for the event, our own littlest bean Huck!

He was the messenger for a cute heart shaped note from his teacher Emily (taped to his back) who I have had the pleasure to help to learn to knit! Thanks Emily!! As you can see I have put it up on my rear view mirror and there it shall stay to cheer me as I drive along! I just taught her to purl (2 weeks ago maybe even 3??) and this is her way of saying she loves it!

He helped out by taking a phone order and was very determined to type in the information with as much force as he could muster!

He was also involved in our sock shaped cookie icing event and had his very first cookie for which I am guilty of not asking Mom aka Jimmy if it was alright (sorry Laura, blush), but the good news is he wasn't all that interested in the sugary treat! He was more interested in the key board than the cookies.

Now this fun day was organized by Amber and cookies by Amerique, thanks you two!! Yum Yum!

Now speaking of socks I couldn't resist and did cast on my Egg-stra Special Socks last night and I am really excited to work these up and it's for such a great cause wow!! The pattern is really clear cut and the XXL Trekking sock yarn by Zitron is sooooo soft and yummy what could I do? It was calling me...what's a sock knitter to do? Ha ha! Why knit socks of course!

Well that's all I have at the moment, as I must get back to my socks and wish you all (as always) happy knitting and crocheting!!

Jeanne

PS here is a picture of all of our decorated cookies waiting to be consumed, yum, yum!!

"Egg-stra" Special Socks

I am so excited about Skacel's "Egg-stra" Special Sock kit!!! ALL the proceeds (100%) for this kit ($25.00) are being donated to the fight against Ovarian Cancer and the yarn was dyed to perfectly match the Teal color used for Ovarian Cancer, it is beautiful!!!

I am picking my kit up first thing in the morning and can't wait to get these knit up for the upcoming sock season. The pattern is perfect with it's cabled cuff all the way to the toe!

More to come on this one...stay tuned same knitting channel!

A Gourmet Monster KAL???

Well it's finally happened, Amber has come over to the dark side and is really pursuing knitting! She's an amazing crocheter, but has resisted the knitting (I certainly understand this, as I resist the crocheting) however Ailene, Nicole and Amber just cast on their very own Iris the Gourmet Monsters!! They are all using different yarns and I helped them understand the magic loop (which is suggested to work up little Iris) and they all took off!! I barely showed them how it all works and those great young minds ran with it, phew I was dizzy!

**Side note if you would like to learn the magic loop here is a small video we did about this technique...let me know if it is helpful?

To the left are Amber and Nicole and on the right is our very own Ailene and if you get a chance to have either of these 2 little beans help you I know you will enjoy it, they are both awesome!!

If you want to join in on this impromptu KAL (knit a long) feel free and I guess I have to jump on the band wagon with this adorable little monster.

I have always said that Iris is a gourmet because only the best children are eaten, but one of my customers said she thinks it's because only the best yarn is eaten and I love that!!!

As always have a GREAT day and happy knitting and crocheting! Jeanne

Amber has a friend....

Amber is in love and who can blame her when it's this sweet little Lorna's Laces Iris? She got Sara (who is now working elsewhere and is missed) to knit it up for her out of the Shepherd Worsted in the color Catalpa!

Sara wisely gave her the finished pieces and she had to stuff it and sew it together and this is to get her knitting her own stuff! Clearly she finally got to work and put her little Iris together. Way to go Amber we are all so proud!!

Wool Watcher ALERT!!!

We have a Wool Watcher ALERT for you all!! Tomorrow (Thursday) we will be featuring some of the new Trendsetter Vigna and you will want to take a peek for sure!!

Then we have 'Funky Fiber Friday' coming up (if you have a better name please let us know) which will be featuring our new Muench grab bags which include yarns from GGH, Lana Grossa and Muench!! These great designer yarns are a 'Grab Bag' but I can tell you that they are lovely and deserve full yarn honors!! They range from small to large which means anywhere from 500-1000 yards of beautiful yarns to perk up your stash. I was lucky enough to take the pictures and so have touched what we currently have on the site and can tell you they are yummy!!!

I think these great yarns would make the most amazing diagonal scarf, shawl, or well what ever you want to make! They are so cool!

As always happy knitting and crocheting! Jeanne
